In this month’s sample system design guide, we’d like to show you what’s possible with the Vocia Nurse Call Integration (NCI) package in a small healthcare facility.
The unique need of healthcare facilities for professional-grade networked public address, and voice evacuation systems requires a very specialized audio solution. With Vocia, the decentralized architecture distributes audio processing and page-routing across the network, which eliminates the potential for a single point of system failure. The NCI package enables a direct connection to supported Nurse Call systems such as Rauland-Borg.
Because Vocia uses standard IP network protocols like Cobranet, it’s easy to scale your paging system from one floor of a hospital to multiple floors, and up to multiple buildings and campuses as well.

Two considerations you could explore in your design of a Vocia NCI system include:
- If a hospital had a POTS systems and wanted to integrate live paging from their phone system, they could install the POTS-1 product to give them this feature.
- If a hospital had multiple nurse stations on that floor they could easily add additional DS-10s or WS-10s to their paging system.
