This year, six organizations have been honored by Biamp for their innovative use of audiovisual technology to enrich the lives of youth in their communities. The grants, ranging from $3,000 to $10,000, have been awarded to five Portland-area organizations and one international recipient.
“At Biamp, we believe in the power of audiovisual technology to connect people and elevate experiences,” said Rashid Skaf, Biamp President, CEO, and co-Chairman. “We’re proud to support organizations that share this vision and are making a tangible difference in the lives of youth in their communities.”
The 2024 grant recipients include:
Dana Thompson Memorial Fund of Awesome (Portland, OR): This organization offers music education and performance opportunities to underserved youth, fostering creativity and self-expression through audiovisual technology.
My Voice Music (Portland, OR): Empowering at-risk youth through songwriting and music production programs, My Voice Music utilizes state-of-the-art recording equipment to help participants share their stories.
Friends of Noise (Portland, OR): Offering all-ages concerts and workshops, Friends of Noise teaches youth about sound engineering and event production, providing safe spaces for artistic expression.
Portland Symphonic Girlchoir (Portland, OR): Enhancing choral education and performance experiences for young women, this organization uses advanced audio technology to promote musical excellence and personal growth.
Youth Music Project (Portland, OR): Delivering accessible music education through after-school programs and summer camps, Youth Music Project integrates modern music technology to engage students in contemporary music creation.
Hear & Say (Australia): Supporting children with hearing loss through innovative auditory-verbal therapy programs, Hear & Say leverages cutting-edge audio technology to improve communication skills and quality of life.
These organizations were selected by the charitable leadership committee at Biamp for their commitment to using audiovisual technology to benefit underserved communities.
Beyond the grant program, Biamp actively supports various global organizations and encourages employee volunteerism. The company has partnered with notable institutions such as the PDX Jazz Festival, Young Audiences, PDX Pop Now!, Theater in the Grove, Rock ‘n Roll Camp for Girls, Shared Studios, and Habitat for Humanity.
